Huawei Nova 6
The Huawei Nova 6 was recently launched in china as the successor to the Nova 5 series. It is one of the highest selling devices in China and can be imported to India at an affordable rate. Let us see whether you should consider this device at all.
Design
The Huawei Nova 6 comes with a glass body with an aluminium frame. The device comes in several colors with different gradients. The orange colour or red colour also houses a Nova print on the back as a not so subtle marketing strategy. The device looks modern and appeals to minnelials.
Display
The Nova 6 comes with a 6.7 inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of FHD+. It also houses a dual punch hole display that house the cameras(front) of the device. The quality of the display is quite good but loses out to Amoled displays which are quite expensive.
Performance
The Nova 6 comes with the Kirin 990 chipset that has 5G support. The device has also been launched with a 5G variant but this is the regular 4G variant. It is a powerful chipset and loses out to the Apple Bionic chipsets only.
Cameras
The Nova 6 houses a triple camera setup with a 40 megapixel primary sensor paired with 2 8 megapixel sensors which are ultra wide and telephoto sensors. The device also comes with a 32 megapixel selfie camera paired with another 8 megapixel ultra-wide sensor. This has one of the most versatile sensors in it's budget and can manage quite well in outdoor shots but lacks absolute quality of 48,64 and 108 megapixel sensors.
Verdict
There are 2 verdicts to the Nova 6 -:
1- You should not pay the extra 6k for the 5G variant just yet (especially in India) as the need for 5G is not apparent and it will take at least till 2022 for 5G to be fully developed in India.
2- Buy this device knowing what you are getting into as Huawei has been in a bit of a problem with google and is banned in a few areas and is vulnerable to loss of services from major brands. Considering all this if you like Chinese devices and want a good device, this is the pick for you.
