Motorola Edge+
Motorola recently introduced the
Motorola Edge+ in the Indian market for a staggering price of 75k INR. This is
also Motorola’s newest flagship entrant and the last Motorola flagship was
launched in 2016, so does this mean that Motorola is too late or is this just
enough to make a difference? This is what is going to be elaborated in this
article. Do note this is not any kind of a review, it is more of a brief
overview of the specifications of the device mentioned above.
Design
The Motorola Edge does not bring a
major difference in terms of it’s design to the market in general. It is a
rather conservative design with the exception of the curved display which used
to be a trait of Samsung flagships but is now no longer viable for the market in
general. Why was this so? The major reason for this was the fact that the
curved display resulted in a host of issues including but not limited to
accidental touches, irregular placement of power and volume rockers to name a
few. In other ways the design is quite conservative, with the device being a
bit thick to accomodate the 108 megapixel sensor (To be discussed in the camera
department). The device does creak a bit but that is synonymous with other 108
megapixel sensor counterparts. Overall if you have no issues with the curved
screen then you will prefer the Glass-Sandwich design.
Display
As discussed above the device’s
display will certainly have mixed reactions in accordance with the curved
display. In terms of the device’s display specifications are 6.7 inch FHD+
Amoled display. The display also has a refresh rate of 90HZ which is not the
best high refresh rate display of all time. So, the display seems good but not
great and some people may be like FHD+at 75k, but Motorola states that QHD+ is
more battery consuming and FHD+ is a safe space so no harm there.
Performance
The Motorola Edge+ is a device which
comes with the Snapdragon 865 which is found on most flagships of 2020. The
performance may get a bit of a boost due to the lite skin of Motorola however
that may not be the case in real-life. The device has a 12GB+256GB variant so
the storage option is not underpowering at all.
Camera
The Motorola Edge+ has a 108
megapixel sensor which is the Samsung sensor found on the S20 Ultra and a few
other devices. The other sensors include a 16 megapixel ultra-wide sensor
paired with a 8 megapixel telephoto sensor. It is also having a 25 megapixel
selfie sensor. The camera quality however is something that I cannot comment
on.
Verdict
This device is not a bad
device, however it seems to be a device which is too little too late.
