HTC Wildfire X
The HTC Wildfire X was launched in India by HTC as a comeback device for the brand in India. The brand had left India after poor sales. Let's see whether HTC has stirred up the Smartphone industry with it's re-entrant.
Design
The HTC Wildfire X comes with a plastic polycarbonate back, that is a bit of a bummer considering that HTC has vast resources and used to produce beautiful devices. However, the device is sturdy and is less fragile and is less apparent to scratches and scuffs, however it being a plastic panel it may attract plenty of fingerprints and a back cover is advised. The Device features a plain back panel lacking any gradient that looks a bit out of place in the flashy 10k budget range.
Display
The HTC Wildfire X comes with a 6.2 inch display that comes with a resolution of HD+ or 720*1520. The display is made of LCD tech that is common in it's price point. It comes with a waterdrop notch with a screen-to-body ratio of 88%. The device however comes with a poor looking fat chin that really makes the device look less modern and makes the device less appealing. However, the display is adequate and has good colors, but it is not the best display even in the 8k range.
Performance
The Wildfire X comes with a Helio p22 chipset which is the most disappointing feature of the device. The chipset is a budget chipset found in devices in the 5-6k range and cannot handle moderate tasks with ease, let alone heavy tasks. It is a competitor to the Snapdragon 430 which is also a weak chipset. The device competes with devices that feature the P70 or the 660\665 from Snapdragon and just fails to impress.
Cameras
The HTC Wildfire X comes with a triple camera setup with a primary 12 megapixel sensor, a 8 megapixel telephoto sensor and a 5 megapixel depth sensor. The device loses out appeal in this department too as other devices in this budget are now coming with 48 megapixel cameras and\or wide angle cameras, both lacking for the X. The device has an adequate camera, but when compared with the competition it just can't keep up.
Verdict
The Wildfire X comes with a good but average design, a poor chipset, adequate cameras and a price of 9k and frankly at that price the device just can't seem to justify it's asking price, making it a dud for HTC's comeback.
