Redmi 8A
The Redmi 8A was launched recently to compete with the Realme C2. It is the successor of the Redmi 7A. Let's see whether it deserves to be your next smartphone?
Design
The Redmi 8A comes with a special and different glossy plastic finish. It is not as matte as the C2 and may be prone to occasional scratching and scuffing. It is advisable to keep a case on at all times. The Phone comes in 3 different and contemporary colors, which appeal to the ideal millennial's mind.
Display
The Redmi 8A sports a 6.22 inch HD+ panel with 270 ppi which is quite similar in appearance and performance to the Realme C2 display. This means that it is not a strength of the display, but is adequate for it's price. It gets moderately bright but in direct sunlight it gets difficult to view content on the screen. To sum it up it is not the ideal content consumption device.
Performance
The Redmi 8A comes with a Snapdragon 439 chipset which is a budget chipset. It can handle day-to-day tasks but is not suitable for gaming or heavy usage. In this budget gaming is not common so the processors are usually weaker.
Camera
The Redmi 8A comes with a single 12 megapixel camera with an f 1.8 aperture. It is the flagship Sony IMX 363 sensor which produces good quality images with plenty of color and dynamic range.
Verdict
The Redmi 8A comes with a flagship sensor, a 5000 MAH battery and USB Type c charging with 18 watt fast charging. It lacks dual cameras which are found in the Realme C2 but it makes up for it with a good battery and fast charging. It starts at rupees 6500 in India which is 500 more than the C2 but it is worth it. The C2 on the other hand is now older and needs to be updated with a successor. This does not that the C2 is bad, it simply means Redmi has stepped up it's game a lot.
